World Wide Web Communications Launches Alzheimer Portal
Site provides a single point of entry for comprehensive information and resources on Alzheimer’s disease
Cherry Hill, New Jersey, November 13, 2002 – World Wide Web Communications, Inc. (3wC), a digital solutions provider, today announced the launch of alzinfo.org, a website developed for the Fischer Center for Alzheimer’s Research Foundation in New York. The web site is the culmination of a 15-month initiative to develop and implement an e-solution that encompasses the re-architecture and redesign of the Foundation’s website with the goal of improving accessibility and flexibility to those seeking information and services from the Fischer Center Foundation.
Specific project objectives for alzinfo.org’s initiative included providing a single point of entry for comprehensive information and resources on Alzheimer’s disease. The site is for caregivers, family members, and people living with Alzheimer’s, and anyone who has an interest in conquering this devastating disease.
To meet the Foundation’s objectives, 3wC created an electronic business channel for the organization to improve the efficiency of common interactions between the Foundation and its audience. The site provides information and guidance on Alzheimer’s and facilitates a high degree of self-service to help improve processing efficiency and service delivery.
On Tuesday, November 12th, The Fisher Center Foundation sponsored the documentary “Alzheimer’s, is there hope?” – which was aired on public television stations throughout the country. The hour long exploration of the tragedy of Alzheimer’s disease covered the disease from its origins to recent breakthroughs that give sufferers and caregivers reason for optimism. The documentary coincided with the official launch of the website.
“This was definitely exciting for us,” said Bob Savar, President of 3wC. “The web site was featured prominently in the show, and it was gratifying to see all our hard work come to life on the screen. The site will be a great asset to the understanding of Alzheimer’s disease.”
Site features include the following: people can donate in a secure e-commerce enabled area; they can join a community of people interested in the disease and receive periodic email updates; they can read about the most up-to-date research that is being done and access a geo-search resource database of over 100,000 senior care providers. Future enhancements include a chat, bulletin board, Living Memorium and much more.
